Pretty Chintzy Inspiration

Morning y'all! First, thank you so much for all of your thoughtful comments on Friday's post re: my bedroom pillow situation.  Just to remind you, I was trying to choose between these two fabrics:

Millais (left) or Charlotte Moss (right)

I still love them both, but I'm leaning toward the Charlotte Moss on the right for a couple of reasons.  First and most importantly, when I see it as I'm walking into my room I feel a rush of happy endorphins. Perhaps, it is the 80s Ralph Lauren vibe (I know exactly which fabric y'all are talking about - my best friend had it and maybe I was a little envious?).  I don't mind 80s to be honest.  It was a really great time in my life in which I was surrounded by chintzy florals thanks to The Suze.  Also, the Millaise matches a little too well, which makes me uncomfortable.  I need a pop of something to break up the monotony of the room.  I'll let y'all know what I decide and show you pictures, but again thanks so much for your feedback!

Now for some pretty chintzy inspiration that is moving me into an obsessive floral moment.

And, of course, I can't do a post on chintz without including a room from The Prince of Chintz.

I'm going to turn into crazy flower lady if I'm not careful.

Finally, I have something really important to talk to you about.  Come close.  Ok y'all, this is serious, I need your advice.  My coffee maker broke again.  I KNOW RIGHT????????  I'm trying to remain calm, but I want to punch someone. Who do I punch? Just kidding. not really. So I received my replacement coffee maker, used it once and the grinder got clogged again.  I cleaned it out but the coffee is weaker and I am super P.O.'d.  I don't want another replacement one.  I got it at Crate and Barrel.  I just want to take it back and have them deal with it.  The other option is to get the replacement coffee maker and take the new one back and pretend I never used it.  But I feel bad lying.  Sorta.  I did just buy it like two months ago.  What should I do? (and if you tell me to give up coffee, I will personally rip your head off and verbally assault you a la Courtney the mental giant/model from The Bachelor).

Have a lovely day!

  1. I would take the coffee maker back, Crate and Barrel are great, just tell them you have had nothing but trouble with it.
I wish I could do florals, I tried with my sofa and after two weeks I knew it was a mistake for me. I am just a stripe, checks gal. I do like the Charlotte Moss for your bed and style! Decisions, are so hard for us when working for ourselves. I would much rather work for my client than ME! Happy Monday,

  4. Would NEVER tell you to give up coffee..you are kidding right? What I would do is contact Crate and Barrel corporate offices, tell them you are NOT making another trip to the store, but you expect a brand new WORKING coffee maker to be delivered to you pronto and they issue a call tag to pick up the useless piece of junk. Either call them or the manufacturer. Yes, I have gotten bold (chalk it up to house building and a huge learning curve) but now i dont bring things back, they come to me!!!! Any good reliable manufacturer does not want a disgruntled customer on their hands particularly one being deprived of her daily cup(s) of coffee!!! That IS serious business. So thats what I would do!!!!
Re the shams, both pretty only thing I was unclear on was are you keeping middle sham because it doesnt' look like theres any blue in the CH sham? The others pretty but definitely does not have the blue at all and does seem a little more blendy and
subtle. Look forward to seeing what you do. Now go call Crate and Barrel!

  5. I like Tina's advice on the CB coffeemaker! Good luck with all of that. Loved the reference to the BIG head case on the Bachelor, Courtney...I read a spoiler alert on AOL that said Ben is now engaged to her....GEEZ!!! Men can be SO STUPID sometimes! Kasey B would be my pick for him but she is probably NOT trashy enough. Eager to see your AFTER shots once you make a final on the fabric...it's all good so roll right along! Trust your instincts!

  6. I think chintz can be fun when paired with crisp clean feeling bedding otherwise it looks really matronly and old fashioned. With all due respect I find the C.Moss one to feel very dated, and if you are keeping that white sham with the light blue it doens't appear to be a match. Just giving an honest opinion since i am sure that is what you want. I dont' want you making the same very costly mistake we made a few months ago when I thought I had it all figured out and the match was horrible. I gave the bedding (800 dollars worth) to my bachlorette sister who was grateful! I am still stuck with my white and beige bedding, fearful of making another mistake. Good luck and by all means return that coffee maker for another brand!

  7. I'm with Tina from The Enchanted Home, seriously, you've done your part as a consumer and they need step up. That aside, I'd take it back, used or not, and tell them you must have a refund (or store credit if you feel you may use it within a reasonable amount of time). Give up coffee...never!

  8. I do love chintz. I cant wait to see what you will be doing.
I agree with Tina. They need to step up and take it back. I wouldn't buy that brand again.
