Something's Gotta Give House

The Suze almost exclusively watches movies with pretty houses, unless they get destroyed, then she finds it too stressful (she finds Christmas Vacation to be extremely upsetting).  I'm getting to be more like her in that way as I get older, although I love Christmas Vacation.  I don't need a life lesson, just give me some design inspiration and I'm happy. Something's Gotta Give was on this morning and I just had to include pictures from the set in my collection.  I love it.  LOVE it.  I could move in right away and retire at the ripe old age of 30.  Maybe it's the blue and white living room or the white kitchen cabinets.  Perhaps it's the sense of happiness I feel while watching Diane Keaton luxuriate in the comfort of her fabulously decorated home in the Hampton's while wearing turtle necks and typing away.   I want to do that!  Many other design bloggers have covered this house so I am not alone in my obsession.  They have also done a much better job of gathering the details, so I will leave you with pictures and direct you to some wonderful posts and articles on this inspirational set.  I encourage you to check them out if you want to know more!

  1. what is so funny is that when i watched this movie a few years ago, all i could think about is how that is my dream house. and still when i think about what my dream house would look like, i think of this movie. too funny. love the blog!

  2. Thanks Erin! You, Alex and Polly need to move to KC so we can talk dream homes and reality T V.

  3. I fell in love with this house the first time I saw the movie. It's so elegant, and yet so livable.
Great post, as usual, Jennifer. I hadn't seen this one before, but I found in on Tina's 'The Enchanted Home - Posts to Ponder' blog post.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I LOVE this home!!! From day one, I fell in love. One day :)

  5. I love this house too! And what about the Simon Pearce glass ware she used to set her table.

  6. What IS the actual Simon Pearce pattern? I have been told it is Hartland but I am not sure - what do you think?

  8. I found this wonderful place that sells the beach house art from "Something's Gotta Give." They did the Rockaway Beach above the fireplace for me.
